This is just a brief history of my life.

Myself and two cousins shortly after our first birthday.
Birthdays range from Jan 1 on right, to Feb 4 in

Here I am at 2 years with my father's mom.

I have done many jobs in my lifetime, from factory work to practical nursing, cooking and cleaning to bookkeeping. In 1996 I was diagnosed with Diabetes. Late that year I was diagnosed with Diabetic Retinopathy. After a great deal of laser surgery, I developed so much bleeding in my eyes that I had to have Vitrectomies on both eyes. This left me with very little vision in either eye. I was retired on disability by 1997. In June of 1998 I moved into disabled housing. I have a large blind spot in the center of my right eye, a small good spot in the center of my left eye, and a total of 4,250 laser holes in my eyes. It's like looking through a collander. All I see are bits and pieces except for the small good spot in my left eye. I use a 17" monitor and special glasses to work on my computer.
I found Ares and Xena Shippers in March of 2000, and started proofreading for some of the members and other bards. I enjoyed it immensely. People told me that I had a real way with words, and that I should start writing. Now I'd never written anything more serious than book reports and a few poems in High School. I have spent a good many years working on the family genealogy. That's not anything like writing fiction. I decided to try, and wrote a short story named A Xena Tale. One of the girls from the club, who is a bard, told me she wanted to know what happened next, so I wrote chapter two. Then I got inspired to start writing more short stories. They total 14 completed stories so far, and I've written the first four chapters of another one.

Here I am at age 6 with 10 yr old cousin.

This is a picture of myself (Briar), Native name Ahanuog Muchaka Squa (Laughs a Lot Woman), in full regalia, standing inside the trading post. The length of my hair doesn't show as it was in back of me at the time. Below is a picture of my mom. Her Indian blood shows much more than mine.

These are my mom's parents.

My mother was an avid reader, and taught me to read when
I was two. I could be happy for hours if she just provided
some books to read. Books became my friends during school
years. I lived on a farm and had few neighbors, most of which
were cousins.

I learned handwork from my Grandmother. She taught me to
crochet, and quilt. My aunt then taught me to knit. I love
working with my hands, but can no longer see to do much. I
spend most of my day at the computer, either surfing the web,
checking on my clubs, or writing. When some of the young
people on the clubs are looking for information, I usually know
where it can be found, and if not, I know how to use a search
engine real well. When I have time, I go looking for the info
they need. I also do search for my cousin Al. He repairs
computers for a hobby, and is always in need of something. I
search out the best prices for him, and he keeps my computer
in good shape. Fair trade huh?
